For the most part the second Presidential debate looked like two monkeys throwing poo at each other. Yet Donald Trump won this debate as he raised some key issues for all Americans to consider.
The tax code that allows a wealthy individual, such as Trump, to pay no taxes is the law of the land. While some may criticize Trump for using the tax code this way he rightly points out that it is congress who allows this to happen. Congress allows this to happen as candidates such as Hillary Clinton receive large campaign donations from the wealthy who benefit from the tax code.
Trump also raised the issue of campaign financing. He asked her while pointing out her own massive wealth derived from her political position that she could spend her own money to reduce her reliance on big donors. This alludes to the aftermath of Citizens United which has allowed corporations to donate massive amounts of money to politicians and the undue influence it affords them.
On the issue of Aleppo, Trump rightly, identified it as a false flag event. He rightly said that the Russians, Syrians, and Iranians are fighting ISIS while the United States has dubiously been backing rebels, whom in previous circumstance have shown to be the very people we claim to be fighting. Meanwhile the increasing rhetoric against the Russians is very concerning as the results of a war with Russia could be catastrophic.
Most of the second debate was an eyesore. However, Trump should be considered the winner of the second debate as he brought up issues that should be part of the public dialogue.
