Time To Arrest Road-Blocking Trump Supporters

By       (Page 1 of 1 pages)   14 comments

In the past few days there have been at least three incidents where Trump supporters blocked roads. In one case in Texas, they actually did what could be considered kidnapping of a bus. These road blockers should be arrested the same way BLM protesters are.

When Black Lives Matter protesters block roads they are beaten, tear gassed or pepper-sprayed and/or arrested. The Trump supporters should be receiving similar treatment. Not being beaten-- no-one should be beaten, but they should be stopped and if it takes pepper spray, use it. And they should be arrested for blocking roads. In some states, where they've passed legislation allowing cars to run through protesters, it could be deemed legal for a vehicle, like a bus, to run over or hit the cars and pickup trucks blocking their way.

When it comes to the Trump caravan that blocked the bus, I believe that amounted to kidnapping. The bus was held against its will by these criminals. They had to cancel three scheduled events. The car that was with the bus was hit and damaged-- not paint dings, major dents. The drivers had the right to engage in defensive and offensive driving. It would not have been safe for the car driver, but the bus driver had every right to swerve to cause the encircling trucks to run off the road. I'm glad to see that the FBI is investigating this event.

But what should have happened was the police should have been called and they should have rounded up the participants in the Trump Caravan, stopped them then arrested them, for blocking the road and kidnapping and then their trucks should be impounded and towed, and possibly taken permanently from their owners, as police routinely do with people charged with other crimes, like marijuana possession.

The other caravans didn't "kidnap" a bus and car, but they blocked roads. If BLM protesters are arrested then Trump Caravan road blockers should be arrested too. This is a form of civil disobedience and it should be treated that way, as long as no activity like what happened in Texas, where a bus was kidnapped, which is far worse. Of course Trump may pardon them. So it may be better to wait until after January 20th to charge them. But probably not. It's important to do it right away to send a message to the Trump supporters who are waiting to follow Trump's example and break the law. Unfortunately, this will probably not happen, so it may have to happen after Biden takes office.
