Elizabeth Warren should be ashamed of herself. She betrayed progressive Americans. She screwed the middle class. She's certainly lost me as the huge fan I was for years. Remaining silent in times of great hardship, when you can make a difference is a form of cowardice.
She could have been cruising to a cake victory over Hillary at this point. Bernie Sanders even said he would not run if she did and waited until she made it clear she wasn't running. Did she make the decision to give Hillary room, or maybe she didn't have the stomach for it? Who knows. But she already had the hearts of progressives and would have been in a far better position as a candidate than the flawed neocon with huge negatives, Hillary Clinton.
Then Bernie decided to go for it. Warren could have been an early supporter. She didn't. Bernie showed incredible early success and grassroots support. Warren could have been backed Bernie more comfortably after New Hampshire. Now, people have started voting and progressive Elizabeth Warren, by her silence is really helping Hillary. She could have clinched her state, MA for Sanders. She didn't.
Salon has an article,
Thanks for nothing, Elizabeth Warren: How the Democratic Party's rock star missed her chance, hurt the progressive agenda, which says,
ight now, she could have been coasting toward a Super Tuesday landslide and locking up the Democratic nomination. It doesn't take a wild imagination to picture it.
Instead, Warren is nowhere to be found, unless you're a Democratic donor on the receiving end of DNC email blasts signed by the Massachusetts senator. Raising money like this -- or lending her name to these emails -- might be her biggest contribution to the Democrats in the 2016 cycle.
Yep. as far as I'm concerned Warren went with the dark side of the force. Sure, she gives lip service to some progressive issues, but she had her chance to make a difference and it really needed to be before today. Some people talk about her making an ideal Vice presidential campaign partner. I did too. Not anymore.
"Silence in the face of evil is itself evil: God will not hold us guiltless. Not to speak is to speak. Not to act is to act." Dietrich Bonhoeffer
Remaining silent, choosing (not failing) to stand up and support Bernie Sanders, like Ellison, Grijalva and Grayson, she took a stand that made a huge difference compared to supporting Bernie, a stand that nets out as helping Hillary. Shame on her for hewing to what she led us to believe she stood for. She should not be the running partner Bernie Sanders chooses to run with.
