In another 5-4 decision has handed a victory to Hobby Lobby. Businesses can now out of providing birth control benefits that their owners don't believe in. The decision only applied to birth control, but it is a further erosion of women's rights and a bolstering of corporate power.
Obama's weakness helped Hobby Lobby. The Huffingtonpost reports,
"Some of the court's conservative-leaning justices asked why the Obama administration had granted religious accommodations to any organizations if the contraception mandate was so critical to public health. "It must have been because the health care coverage was not that important," said Justice Anthony Kennedy, who was generally considered to be the swing vote.
In a case that could have had devastating effect upon unions, the Court, by a slim, five to four decision, allowed the continued existence of government unions.
I'm just providing a slim description of the basic results. Hopefully, commenters can fill this in, with analysis.
