Aside from the unlikely impeachment process to remove Trump from the 2020 ballot, there may be other possibilities. After the 2008 election, in response to accusations that Obama was not a natural-born citizen, several states proposed legislation to require presidential candidates to submit certified birth certificates to be eligible for their names to appear on the state ballot. None of these propositions became law, but their legality was never tested.
It seems like a good time to start such a movement in selected state legislatures to prevent Trump's name from appearing on their ballots on the basis of him being unfit for the office. In each case, the discussion could bring up for review his many foul actions that were not presented in the impeachment trial. His supporters could still vote in the "other" space on the ballot.
This strategy would not be unscrupulous like the tricks of some republican state administrations that block voting and screen out ballots of the opposition.
