Mr. Catcher's Mitt is standing there jauntily with a large frog in one hand. Next to him is a boiling pot of water. Catcher's Mitt intends to put the frog in the boiling water and cook it. In case the frog takes exception to being put in boiling water and tries to jump out, Catcher's Mitt has a lid nearby.
A short distance away is Barak Augustus. He also has a large frog in one hand. Next to him is a pot of cold water. Barak Augustus puts the frog in the cold water and the frog likes it. Barak Augustus intends to heat the water so slowly that the frog won't notice and he will be cooked before he realizes it. Just in case the frog does notice, Barak Augustus will watch him very closely, and will slam a lid down on the pot at the first sign that the frog is getting suspicious.
Note that the end game is the same in each case: they are both planning on having frog's legs for dinner. The only difference is in how they intend to cook the frog. Remember this on November 6th !
