Earlier this year at a press conference in
Belgium before world journalists, where no slavishly sycophantic American
reporters carried any weight, Obama received literally one clap from one or two
people in the crowd. One hollow sounding clap. His hypocrisy was accentuated by
this pathetic response to his usual mouthing of American exceptionalisms. That
dog don't hunt anymore because that dog has fleas, a very ugly infectious skin
rash, and is on his deathbed.
It's interesting the talk now of this
lame duck president and of his demise, the repeated perception being that this
president is responsible for the poor showing of the Democratic Party in the
midterm elections.
But I don't think so far that there is any
serious analysis or bringing to a conscious level exactly why he is so unpopular
and perceived as a failure.
My belief is that our gutless reporters (I
can't bring myself to call them journalists) still are just as gutless in
speaking truth to power, afraid of the consequences should they actually hit the
nail on the head, and what that effect might have on their personal corporate
media outlet. Will they lose their seat in the Washington Press Room or be put
in the back of the room as they did to the indomitable Helen Thomas for daring
to actually be a journalist?
The journalists in Belgium representing the
world with that thunderously lame clap signaled at least the world's response to
the hypocrisy of Obama's specious attempts at lofty speech making. The American
People haven't been buying it for some time now, but you wouldn't know that from
our Corporate Enabling Media's lack of penetrating focus on the chasm that
exists between his words and his actions.
In short, our media have been there for
applying the mascara and rouge to his performances on the stage rather than the
gritty soap cleansers to lay bare what lies behind the mask of corporate
collusion.
The American People, and the rest of the
world, if the response at this March 2014 press conference in Belgium is any
indication, see through this Constitutional lawyer who has eviscerated the
Constitution he so ignobly purports to protect by the profession that he chose.
Think globally has been the chant. I guess his administration saw that as global
surveillance.
Bush had to remind us that he was a war
president. Obama just keeps adding one country after the other to his war legacy
and now threatening Russia with WWIII, re-igniting the Cold War, destroying all
the diplomatic undertakings of decades that brought about Peace between our two
nations. And this from a Nobel Peace recipient? What's not so obvious to our
impotent media in not seeing that stark hypocrisy?
"It's the economy, stupid." Those four words
tell every president now the obvious, and yet Obama preferred to not upset the
apple cart of the 1% in taking any strong initiative in stimulating
infrastructure development, moving away from fossil fuels, and creating federal
programs to make this country industrialized again rather than a profligate
consumer of other nations' strong industrial bases.
And his Justice Department is custom made for
the corporate elite, the oligarchs whom we owe so much to, the so-called
Recession and Too Big to Fail or Jail. Does anyone think the American People
haven't logged that one onto their personal disappointment lists of the
president who promised accountability and transparency?
Our $650 billion Public Educational
System is the Commons he took an oath to protect, seen now as only a Wall Street
watering hole for privatization purposes.
Thank you for doing all within your power, mister
president, for destroying the Great Equalizer of Opportunity for All Americans.
Again do really think that along with your fast tracking of Student Debt to the
coffers of your donors all of this hasn't been noted by the American
People?
Keystone Pipeline. Does anyone really believe
anymore that this environmental president is going to put a halt to the delivery
of tar sands sludge or get serious about the poisoning of our earth and its
aquifers with fracking through the injections of over 500 chemicals, many of
them known carcinogens, into the belly of America? That's just too much
capitalistic billions to let pass to take precedence over the health of our own
people and our corner of the planet.
And wars, mister Obama, how many have you
added to date since you took office, selling them to the American People with
your Pepsodent smile? How much deceit do you think the people of this country,
even the ones who were your faithful apologists, actually really swallowed
before they woke up one morning and realized the image they had of you wasn't
the person you really were?
When they heard about your Tuesday morning
execution hit lists with drones or other means and your bragging about your
being really good at killing ("looks like I'm really good at killing people"
Obama stated while discussing drone strikes in 2012 according to Mark Halperin
and John Heilemann, authors of Double Down), did you really think that would not
eventually cut large swathes of consciousness into the cerebral cortexes of even
your most loyal fans?
And did the American People not come away
with utter disgust not only for their president but also for the Congressmen,
who with the exception of eight, in the midst of the most brutal murder of
anyone who got in the way of Israeli vengeance, children, grandparents, women,
United Nation's shelters, in their so-called "mowing of the lawn" blitzkrieg
upon the Gazans, when our democratic representatives sought to re-arm the
genocidal racists, our ally? That wasn't responsible for Obama's dismal ratings
going into this election?
And for those who immediately want to defend
the defenseless, Obama had the Congress in his back pocket when he came into
office and squandered it all with his immediate move to compromise with the
Republicans which they then took and played every kind of game one could of
pulling his ears, pulling his pants down, and bullying him around the schoolyard
while he continued to offer them yet more compromises.
The American People figured it out about his
leading from behind finally. There wasn't any kind of leadership present in his
character. And Hope The You Can Believe In...well, one more empty promise from a
consummate politician who says one thing and does another.
So as the reporters whip themselves up into a
withering post-election frenzy of blaming it all on what they love to call
Obamacare or faulting him for his playing golf as the Ebola Virus hit center
stage in this country or whatever other pointless, so far off target registering
what the American people are angry about, let us all remember the one clap
indictment from a real Fourth Estate that seems to exist only outside of the
United States of America, Land of the Elitists who couldn't be bothered with
speaking truth to power.
