Oakland-based Jewish Voice For Peace, A group advocating peace between the Israeli and Palestinian people have organized an online petition page for concerned Americans to send an email message to Rep. Mike Pence (R-IN), Rep. Eliot Engel (D-NY), and Sen. Joseph Lieberman (I-CT), asking them to sever ties with Pastor John Hagee and Christians United for Israel. The Jewish political action group "J Street" also has a petition online targeting Lieberman specifically.

Many are shocked to find that Senator Lieberman and others would openly support a controversial religious extremist with powerful political connections who has made allegedly anti-Semitic statements. Even John McCain had the sense to disown Hagee after his zany religious statements came to light.

Click here to see an amazing video of last year's conference in which CUFI's racist members predict the annihilation of all Jews. See Lieberman equate Hagee with Moses, plus Tom DeLay, Rick Santorum and wild-eyed apocalypse-theorists dancing in the aisles! (This is the video Hagee tried to have banned from YouTube).

Eliot Engel, a ten-term Congressman from a solidly Democratic district has already appeared at Hagee's ho-downs twice, calling for pre-emptive action against Iran, which follows a pattern that has seen him use his committee chair to allow radical right-wing Israeli war hawks to lobby Congress, calling for Israel to expel all Palestinians.

Even worse, Engel has take his Democratic constituents for granted, supporting President Bush against the Democratic Congressional leadership in fighting for Bush/Cheney's privilege to strike Iran without Congressional approval. Engel has also crossed party lines to support Bush on his Columbian trade deal, funding Bush's anti-drug initiative in Mexico and voting against net neutrality.

Click here to send your message now, especially if you live in New York, Connecticut or Indiana, are Jewish, oppose a pre-emptive strike against Iran or just think U.S. politicians should steer clear of religious fanatics.
