Globalization is about many things. It's about flows. It's about identities. And, perhaps most importantly, it's about dreams.

The chief proponents of Globalization are mainly positive when it comes to global financial markets and the liberalization of trade. Even the more cautious (or prudent?) among them, such as the Harvard/Princeton economist Dani Rodrik, do not advocate the reversal of these trends but rather their regulatory synchronization with domestic institutions and practices.

In a world where goods circulate ever more freely can the desires of the world's less fortunate be far behind?

Nationalism is a delusional, ephemeral realm, as are most distinct organizations; useful, localized, necessary for practical function. When they are glamorized, justified by divine countenance, we should smell the rat of vanity and manipulation, and stomp it. This is what makes a 'nation' like Israel so pitiful, as it grasps retroactively for a time when nations could be kept 'secure' and fill their participants with some notion of safety, permanence, and fulfillment. I believe the word is 'identity'. Now we are invited by events to think bigger, and those stuck in the past are at sea, trying vainly to recapture something that never was. Like when America was'great'despite what we know to be the awful, deadly truth. While we continue to crawl around on this fragile ball, stealing real estate from one another, the obvious trend of accepting the existence of our remarkable species and preserving this ball will elude us. If there is an agenda here, we did not create it. If we refuse to cooperate with it, and do our duty to each other and our planet, we will continue to fail as human beings, to 'get it wrong', to destroy one another, and the planet. There is only one game we can win, and we each in our short lifespans need to refine the skills to play it, or while we are intent on bettering our 'selves' by abusing our other 'selves', the Universe in its complete lack of wisdom is going to wallop us with a final defeat. The only alternative is to look up, and take charge. This was the message of the prophets of old, lost in time and translation, and it still holds. Only the 'God' to which they referred poetically, is the mindless contract written before anything, of physics. It's predictability is all we have to go on. But it seems to be enough. Now, if we can just get over ourselves, respect one another's right to life, and cooperate, we'll be fine. We have an elegant mission before us, and it will take us all. The rest is jive.

When I wrote the above, it was beautifully paragraphed, and now it is an unreadable mass. I have tried everything i can think of, and either paragraphs appear or they don't seemingly a crapshoot. I'm sick of it and tired of wasting my time.
