Voters across the country need meaningful audits (spot checks) of paper ballots compared to election machine tallies at central offices.
In Sarasota County, Florida, we are waiting for the decision of the Florida Supreme Court from the May 7th hearing on our county charter amendment for paper ballots, mandatory audits, with audits conducted before certifying elections. Our countywide effort could be the harbinger of verified elections statewide and nationwide.
Voters recognize that they need
--election officials who defend transparency in government--private voting, and public counting of votes
--statewide legislation for meaningful (statistically significant) audits (spot-checks) of paper ballots compared to electronic tallies of votes.
What can we do as voters?
1) Continue to press our legislators for needed audits of election results.
2) Make sure all eligible voters register and VOTE on November 4th.
