In De La Savane

inexplicably, lost

and nobody sprechen the english

I encountered a chestnut-haired

lipsticked busker Beatrice

a smile, they say, to die for

back against the wall, always

cradling a candied casio

she played 20th Century Fox

her sirenic voice winding

through the tunnels of my "soul"

I dropped a sawbuck or two,
