EXIT POLL VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR WISCONSIN RECALL ELECTIONS
by Linda Ross
I know that at least 200,000 Wisconsinites disapprove of the severe legislation the Republican majority, under the dubious leadership of Governor Scott Walker, is proposing and cramming through the legislative process, even skirting the rules when it's more convenient. Since February, the ongoing protests in Madison, expressing the Peoples' voice, have fallen on deaf Republican ears. Wisconsinites spoke a little louder by successfully organizing recall elections for eligible Republicans, due to take place in mid July. Good work, Wisconsin! Don't let it go to waste.
Considering how mishandled the recent WI Supreme Court election was, and noting that we are still uncertain as to who actually won, it is clear that we, the People, must step up, to insure the integrity of the recall elections.
Since 2000, Republicans have a recorded history of election theft, which reared it's ugly head in the WI Supreme Court election, under the auspice of Kathy Nikolaus. Anomalies abound, the integrity of the election is deeply in question, at least in my mind. With so much at stake, Wisconsin cannot afford to allow the upcoming recall elections to go the way of the recent Supreme Court election.
Historically, an important and accurate check on election results comes in the form of exit polls. That's why, in recent years, Republicans have sought to dismiss and discredit them. Another disturbing trend, regarding exit polls comes courtesy of the partisan right wing media, via the practice of adjusting the exit polls to match the opaque election results. This is not, however, the intended use of exit polls. If the numbers don't match, it throws up a red flag, and an investigation may be needed.
We cannot depend on anyone to save us. We must save ourselves and organize. For more information on all things regarding exit polls, please check out this link to the Election Integrity Team and read it through very carefully. LINK:
http://www.electionintegrity.org/team/There isn't much time, so please consider being proactive. Don't wait for someone else to do it. This is your democracy, only if you work to save it. I also want to make a special call out to any activist WI lawyers out there. You would make great team leaders. Citizens of Wisconsin must organize to volunteer locally, on election day, to keep a watchful eye on the process, by conducting exit polling
Having exit polls will make a huge difference to insure the integrity of the recall elections. My guess is that, not only will all the Republicans lose their seats in a fair election, but as a result of participating in your democracy, you will feel an enormous sense of satisfaction.
