Do You Really Want the Surveillance to Stop?

Corporate giant Amazon, One Web and Elon Musk's Space X are spearheading the global rollout of 5G, the fifth generation mobile telecommunications system, which has admittedly not been safety tested and has been in the spotlight recently for the threats it poses to civil liberties, privacy and health. Evidence of harm from radiofrequency radiation has been known for decades, and awareness of effects related to electricity stretches back centuries. (See Arthur Firstenberg's book The Invisible Rainbow, reviewed here, for a comprehensive account.) Several studies have been published this year, including by Magda Havas, Batomeu Payeras(in Spanish) and Sarah Aminoff et al.showing some degree of correlation between 5G and the prevalence COVID infections and severity of outcomes, or describing possible mechanisms for that. These researchers recognize a number of confounding factors, such as population density, as also being correlated with 5G. Correlation is not necessarily causation, but with classical symptoms of microwave sickness such as brain fog, memory deficits, migraines, muscle cramps and tinnitus recently being described as "unexplained and previously unknown symptoms of COVID-19" (according to Dr. Yael Stein in a private conversation, who has seen this in scientific publications, with others saying they saw it in news stories) such correlations will only increase, and where a correlation is found that is pertinent to public health and safety the responsibility exists to investigate it. Far from that happening, though, according to Dr. Rashid Buttar in a recent interview, any discussion of 5G that has not been vetted by the profiting industry is now subject to censorship. Meanwhile, I have received so many reports of grave harm from 5G from around the world that I intend to write a follow-up article about that.

In the US, the FCC, the overseeing regulatory body, is run by the industry and acts as enforcer of telecommunication company interests, with the legal machinery to force communities to accept wireless infrastructure, most of which is not subsequently subject to regulatory oversight, that has been demonstrated harmful to health, not to mention privacy.

Why do these companies get away with trampling our civil rights? Because they have the money with which to buy whatever influence they need to pursue their business interests, plus the mandate to do just that for the benefit of their shareholders. Why do they have so much money? Because so many people willingly give them their money and in effect, or in reality, demand that they keep providing more and quicker mobile telecommunications services. Smartphones have been wildly popular, providing connectivity to people with their loved ones, and recently, beloved programming, memories, everything literally at their fingertips wherever they roam. Recently, these devices have provided people a connection to society and made the lockdowns more bearable. This is a matter of historical relevance.

Thus the demand for more connectivity is starting to shift from We the People to They the Powers that Be who wish to implement a grand experiment in social engineering (Bill Gates is very much on record with this), in which we all stay away from each other so that we don't spread germs and they keep benevolent track of who meets whom so they can warn us if we've been near anyone with something dangerous. If I continue in this vein, it will just sound more and more Orwellian, which is what I see people starting to wake up to. A realization is dawning that our society has been sold a Trojan horse in the form of technology by which we may be tracked and our thoughts recorded and monitored.

So what do we do?

First of all, if you are concerned about the health effects of this rampant, uncontrolled expansion of wireless radiation, you should buy a radiofrequency meter (see Less EMF.com--I have no financial interest in them) and find out what you are being subjected to. Most of that exposure is due to personal choices. You can hardwire all the communications devices in your home. If your community no longer provides the choice of a landline, you need to organize to have that choice restoredsee link in next paragraph). You can even connect your smartphone via ethernet, turning off all the antennas (I hear there are six, and you have to turn them all off). Smart meters can be shielded if not opted out of entirely.

But what do we do about the radiation coming in from outside our homes? Organizations are forming up all around the world, particularly in English-speaking and European countries, to oppose cell tower siting and take other action at the community level.

But with regard to the censorship of critical health-related information and the grab for uncontestable power, including the ability to surveil everything we do, by companies we have empowered through our own choices, says Frank Clegg, former CEO of Microsoft Canada, "Only a significant change in consumer behavior will convince the telecommunications companies to change."

ECHOEarth Initiative

Many people have already taken the step of cancelling their cellphone subscription. Many more have downgraded to a flip phone, which they use only when necessary. I have long been aware of effects on my health (such as immune dysfunction) from proximity to digital wireless devices such as cellphones, so I never subscribed. Moreover, I quietly explained to friends long ago that I would prefer not to call their cellphone number as I didn't want to fuel a movement that was harming me and many others.

It all starts from individual choices like this, but such lone efforts leave people feeling like lone cranks in a sea of ignorance. According to Arthur Firstenberg of the Cellular Phone Task Force, who was injured by excessive exposure to x-rays in medical school, forcing him to abandon his career due to consequent severe microwave sickness, we must organize and raise our voices collectively if we want to have an impact. Thus he proposes June 20-21 as an international action day for cancelling subscriptions for mobile services. You can read his reasoning in the following mission statement. Some may wonder if this initiative is too earlycellphones remain very popular, some say essential (but are they really?); others worry that it may be too late. Firstenberg says the effects of 5G satellites on the biosphere via the ionosphere might be drastic and the onset sudden. Efforts are also being made to reach out to Elon Musk.

Mission Statement

ECHOEarth End Cellphones Here on Earth is an organization of people who do not own cell phones, and whose mission is to end the use and manufacture of cell phones on Earth. Help us protect our planet and all life on earth, by registering your agreement with this mission on our signature page. We ask only for your name, email address and country and will never publish or share this information with anyone. We need this information in order to keep track of how many people support our goal.

Reasons for Our Mission

If you have come to this website, it is likely that you already know or suspect, from the science or from your own experience, or both, that cell phones are damaging life on Earth. For those still in doubt, please consider:
