---Alexis De Tocqueville,

Democracy in America, Vol. I, 1835

De Tocqueville, of course, was referring to the nation of Native Americans. But will some French political thinker and historian say that about America in the future?

I am not optimistic about the responses I will get from the many NGOs I have yet to contact. The two NGOs I profiled surely must have the most resources at hand among the whole lot of NGOs, and yet the two have passed up the opportunity to help make real progress against the corpocracy. How many of the others will also?

After lengthy research on how mighty institutions fall, best-selling author Jim Collins has concluded that there are five sequential stages of their decline: "1. hubris born of success, 2. undisciplined pursuit of more, 3. denial of risk and peril, 4. grasping for salvation, and 5. capitulation to irrelevance or death." Where would you peg America? I would peg her somewhere in the third stage, and if we keep tolerating the behavior of her "mighty" institutions of government and corporations they may slide to the fifth stage and take all of America with them.

If I were to pick one dimension of the corpocracy capable of sliding America into that fifth stage it obviously would be the warfare dimension. Never for one minute should we believe the corpocracy is waging war and occupying countries with troops and bases in order to protect and spread democracy. The corpocracy is doing it purely for the self-serving purposes of protecting and expanding corporate resources and markets and preserving political careers. If anyone thinks otherwise, do the 10 years of research I did and the constant monitoring of the situation that I still do. I fear that the "9/11" tragedy will pale by comparison should there ever be some future nuclear blowback by terrorists or governments in other countries.

The classic clichà , "things have to get worse before they get better" is a false and dangerous clichà . Some of the harm caused by the corpocracy is irreversible. The countless human beings killed by the corpocracy's doing can never be made whole again. Neither can the environment and ecology polluted and poisoned at the hands of the corpocracy ever totally recover. For many victims stage five was already reached.

Where am I Headed?

I will continue my crusade promoting the idea of two-fisted democracy power throughout the rest of this year. Regardless of whether I have made progress by then, I am planning to start smelling the roses before I am under them!
