For stage (4A), I think the term "Outrage" would be more accurate than the term "Rage"; but of course that term would destroy the acronym SWIRL.
But Anderson's (4A) Rage (or outrage) usually involves hooking in past abandonment feelings that are prompted by new abandonment feelings in the present. In other words, we need to work through our past abandonment feelings so that we can emerge as persons who are strong enough to express our anger in the present in a way that is consistent with Aristotle's challenging standard. We work through our abandonment feelings from the past through the work of mourning that Anderson has ably described in her book The Journey from Abandonment to Healing. Bradshaw has been saying this in book after book after book.
