Being a nomad goes back to our hunter-gatherer days. Maybe you're considering a run for it, going on the lam, getting off, if not the grid, then down and off the road. Who knows who you may meet or come across. You can check out Bob Wells on the PBS series, American Nomads, to see if he puts extra octane back in your engine.

Overall, Nomadland is a good movie, because McDormand is in it, but the real lives of these nomads is not fully fleshed out and the presence of so many of them in the film seems almost a ruse, even a con job. Jessica Bruder's book on which the film is based, is a much better way to go if you want to dumpster dive into the crises of these former largely middle class stalwarts who had had enough. Nomadland does not offer a deep understanding of the kinds of pressures affecting millions of Americans right now. Had the film done its job, and legitimately lived up to its Oscar win (even in a bad nominee year, this film disappoints), Zhai would have roasted Bezos chestnuts over an open fire for his obscene wealth-growing at the expense of the nation.
