Before we so easily and readily (and justifiably) condemn the violence committed by a relatively small number of extremist Muslims, we must understand the historical context of that violence, including the decades of violence perpetrated by the U.S. and all its allies on the people of the Middle East to control their lands and people and exploit their resources, with the complicity of many of their greedy despots.
We must also put this violence committed by some extremist Muslims in the historical context of the West's own history of horrific violence, beginning with the many murderous religious wars in Europe and then the genocide of indigenous people in North, Central, and South America by mostly Christian Europeans and then Americans, and the brutal slave trade carried out for centuries by Europeans and Americans.
To put it in Biblical terms, before we remove the speck from our brother's eye, we must remove the beam from our own eye.
If we want true peace, we must work for justice, and stop being fooled by the
U.S. Empire's political/corporate lies.
