Note that the declaration is silent on the universal right to access to a healthy environment. That omission was belatedly rectified by a new resolution passed by the UN in late 2021. [8]
The UN is basically hamstrung on three ongoing threats to the human condition, that of war, population explosion and species extinction. For war crimes, the UN defers to the International Criminal Court, a feckless organization to which the U.S. deliberately has not joined. As for population explosion, the U.N. abrogates its universal responsibility and defers to the "Holy See" delegation from the Vatican and looks away from the glaring evidence that Mother Earth is overloaded with human beings to the near breaking point. [9] As for the third threat, species extinction is accelerating at an alarming rate scientists claim. [10] This situation is no trifling matter, despite naysayers claiming extinction is a natural part of evolution. Species throughout our ecosystem depend on one another. Flesh eating animals depend on plant eating animals, and plant life depends on tiny organisms in the soil. We depend on all the foregoing to survive.
We must recognize that the UN is not an activist organization. It bills itself as "One place where the world's nations can gather together, discuss common problems and find shared solutions." The UN is thus not designed to staff any kind of remedial initiatives.
The Ideal Human Condition for Americans
I have written that the power elite of America's corpocracy seems to be taking America and the rest of the world to Hell in a handbasket. [11 ] To try and prevent that from happening, the corpocracy needs to end. If it does, rebuilding a new form of government for Americans becomes a necessity. Anarchy cannot be allowed to happen. Moreover, the end of the US corpocracy would dramatically improve the human condition worldwide.
More specific criteria for an ideal human condition in America needs to be specified for determining whether the ideal has been reached:
>The corpocracy is gone. People are governed by public, not corporate servants.
>The US Constitution is rewritten to serve the common good.
>The power elite have been neutralized.
>America is at peace with itself and the world.
>Laws with teeth for the benefit of the common good.
>All Americans enjoy the conditions specified in the UN's Article 25.
>All Americans can reach their fullest potential as human beings [12].
