The Scourge of the Earth

In my view, all three Abrahamic religions (Judaism, Christianity and Islam) have been divided, distorted and to a significant extent coopted by hypocritical theocrats who think God gave them the "divine right" to rule, even if it means living by the sword and killing in order to gain or maintain power and domain.

As I see it, the fact is that hypocrites do masquerade as good, and somehow manage to think they are. They even think they are "holier than thou," and they claim to serve God and Country. But, as I understand it, they actually betray God, and they betray the real purpose of their religions. They claim to conserve traditional "religious values" when they actually push us way backward and perpetuate the false doctrines of theocrats and patriarchal military imperialists who've been doing the same thing throughout history, and for the last sixteen centuries in the name of Christianity.

Now we should understand that it's really just bigotry disguised as religious zeal, and it's time that we remember what bigotry actually means, because bigotry is not just about racism. It stems from various attitudes of superiority, and it leads to intolerance and contempt for certain other groups of people.

Bigotry is infectious, and whether it is driven by partisan political ideology, or by claims of religious prerogative, or by nationalistic hegemony, or by other attitudes of superiority (such as those based on culture or race), it is still bigotry.

Bigotry produces a group superiority complex, and it leads to intolerance of those who do not or will not belong to your group, whether it be a political party, religious sect, religion, race, nationality or culture.

That's why our present political and religious traditions will not solve the problem. In fact, they are part of the problem. They are what led us to this state of conflict and division.

I submit to you that there is no partisan political leader or religious leader who can unite us and save the world, nor will there be. Only we, the people, have the power to do what must be done to save humanity and the world. All that is needed is to recognize the way to liberate ourselves from those who divide us as they fight to rule over us in the name of religion and/or patriotism.

I trust not in my own understanding, nor do I trust myself. In fact, being conscientious I have much self-doubt. But I trust in God, and I serve the universal Spirit of truth, because it shows us that the truth, and nothing but the truth, will empower and liberate us all.

The Spirit of truth also expresses the feminine nurturing aspect and Wisdom of God, to comfort those who have done wrong but become repentant and contrite of spirit. For the Spirit of truth comes not to condemn, but to educate; not to punish, but to correct; and not to destroy, but to save.

Having seen the way, and knowing it's but a matter of time before everyone sees it, I look forward to the day when most people will consider it backward and wrong to act as if their race or religion or politics or nationality or culture is superior to all others.

I look forward to the day when we celebrate our diversity rather than let it produce conflict and divide us.

I look forward to they day when the vast majority of people in this world will recognize and reject bigotry in ALL its forms.

I look forward to the day when we the people will be empowered and liberated from those who produce conflict and divide us while they compete for the power to rule over us.

I look forward to the day when humanity recognizes and acknowledges the eternal, universal truths that are at the core of all religions, and at the heart of all good, equitable, fair, protective laws of the land.

And perhaps even more important, I look forward to the day when we the people will have government that is actually of, by, and for the people, rather than of, by, and for the wealthiest few.

But, we must understand that is not going to happen by magic. It will come when a good idea's time has come, when the pen will finally prove mightier than the sword, when the Spirit of truth prevails over falsehoods and myths. Then the people will see the world in a new light.
