The GOP has already obtained millions from healthcare corporations and pharmaceuticals to buy their obstructionism aided by the national press corpsĂ ‚¬ „ complete collaboration in endlessly repeating GOP reform-killing talking points.

Ă‚

Democrats who nominally controlĂ‚ the levers of power canĂ‚ only get little snippets of THEIR message out.Ă‚ And when they try to get on theĂ‚ stream media talk shows to tell their side, the moderators of those shows cut them offĂ‚ or even shout them down while proceeding toĂ‚ instill doubt about the DemocratsĂ ‚¬ „ objectives.

Ă‚

Someone please tell me WHY the Democrats including the President refuse still to resurrect, re-establish and re-install the old FCC requirement for the "Equal Time Provision" of the Fairness Doctrine? As it is now, the public can't even get a hearing of both sides of any national debate.

Ă‚

Republicans and their corporate masters have co-opted the media outlets and instituted de facto censorship. How and why did they do it? GW Bush packed the FCC with GOP yes-men and allowed the media to become owned by only four or five GOP leaning megacorporations which slant the news on every network and tv station.

Ă‚

Under Clinton there were close to 50 independent journalistic sources of information. but after GW Bush packed the FCC to allow the press to be consolidated into concentrated mergers the press morphed into our current national censoring and propaganda machine.

Ă‚

Every network seems to have almost identical newsfeeds and stories and Ă ‚¬Ĺ"reportingĂ ‚¬ ť on the very same things.

It should be the DemocratsĂ ‚¬ „ first item of business to investigate media collusion.Ă‚

The press needs to have Standard-Oil-and-Microsoft- style trust bustingĂ‚ done. We need hearings into media openness and let the Republicans squeal Ă ‚¬ËścensorshipĂ ‚¬ „ like the stuck pigs they are.

Ă‚

The Fairness Doctrine was good enough for the FCC for years from the 60s through the 1980s because the FCC holds the licenses for the public airwaves as a trust, not as a commodity to be sold to the most corrupt, highest paying bidder.
