Instead of asking how bloggers deserve to be journalists, we should ask why we should continue to honor journalists by name and title alone. We then can start asking ourselves who we really trust and why. We can teach our kids how to better differentiate fact from opinion, what critical thinking is and how to ask good questions. They in turn will be our peer review for the many voices to come. Truth will rise, leaving the other voices to continue their own paths, perhaps to rise in their own way in another time. Our nation will be better for it, our editors can be teachers we value instead of judges who can be bought and owned. We will empower ourselves to continue to pursue our freedom as we should be doing.
