I also think the reader needs to meditate on the standardized teachings of children. I'll use myself as an example. I was declared as having borderline intelligence according to standardized testing. Yet, at the University of Maryland Baltimore County, I was always on the Dean's list and graduated with a 3.5 GPA out of 4.0. If my professors had followed my standardized test results rather than my true classroom responses and writings, I would have been kicked out and probably wouldn't be writing this article.

My intelligence is not standardized. Indeed, personality testing reveals that I have a deep intelligence that links patterns within myself, and the world. This is a reason why a lot of people state, "What the dickens, Burl! Where do you come up with this stuff?"

Meanwhile, I ask, "What are the results of this top-down mentality in which standardization is the modus operandi?" Add your two cents in the comments. Let's discuss it.

The mindset of unity in plurality was viciously corrupted by our current top-down structures. Our top-down mentality fosters unhealthy products that mirror our assembly line thinking, fostered by standardized, force-fed education. Our "teachers" are but cogs in the machine that prepares students for ever more standardized tests.

Because of the corporate mentality, we live in a wasteland. Based on our pollution of air, water and land, perhaps we could call our environment a garbage dump?

And, what are the results? Can you answer the question within yourself?
