What are we to do? My two cents to this question entails the following:
1. We need to awaken to and be responsible for what we have allowed to happen in the world;
2. We need to change ourselves (become self-sustaining).
3. We need to foster change within our communities, which need to be focused on localization more so than globalization. A good rule of thumb is that the majority of your food should be within 15 miles of where you live. In the case of a city, perhaps 50.
4. We need to fire the current Adam and, in his stead, we need to foster and evolve a new, loving and an intelligent Adam. No more electing politicians where you wonder if they ever made it past 1st grade.
5. We need to cultivate a bottom-down, partnership culture. This idea is brought forth in Riane Eisler's book titled The Partnership Society. A partnership society is one with Rob Kall's bottom--up more so than top-down governance.
By partnership, we need to speak to all relations. It means also a world in which the power lies in the 100%. This includes humans as well as non-humans. We are cells in the Earth's lungs and work in tangent with plants, trees and other animalistic beings in maintaining the Earth's atmosphere. We are cells helping to balance carbon dioxide and oxygen levels on this entire planet!
And as much as an animal or plant may be food for you, you are likewise food for creatures like mosquitos and sharks. We are not the head honchos of a food chain. Rather, we are participants in fostering the lives of all living on Earth.
We are all cells in the process of Creativity. What are we creating together? The Earth! The universe! Is there any limit to Creativity? We are the Creativity we've been looking for! You do make a difference. As Burke says at the end of his television series "The Day the Universe Changed:"
If the universe is what you say it is: then by all means, say!"
