"Sanders highlighted a program in his home state of Vermont that worked proactively to identify mental health issues with returning combat veterans. He said the VA and the National Guard" hired "veterans who were better equipped to approach other vets. What we said is you go on out there and knock on doors. You sit down and you talk to the veteran and/or his wife and get a sense of what is going on."
Afterwards, he spoke at a Cornell College rally of 1100 young people who were "loud and enthusiastic, shouting and interrupting Sanders' speech with applause."
Later, he greeted campaign volunteers in Davenport.

Daniel Marans, a Huff Post reporter, asked Sanders what he thought about Ronda's rematch with Holly Holm, who had defeated her in the boxing ring in November. Ronda had endorsed Bernie at that time because he did not take corporate money and, if he lost, she would vote for a third party candidate.
Bernie's words of encouragement might have come from his own experience, "I wish her the best of luck. Get strong, get tough and win."
