The western world's dominant groups have managed to develop TV leadership to raise almost the same amount of people against true social movements. In the United States, the true social movements won when elected Barack Obama. They did the same in Venezuela when Chavez was elected so I would encourage Mr. Obama and Mrs. Clinton to continue working hard for the United States and to improve the level of international relationships with the rest of the world.
One worrisome thing about Latin America:
I strongly recommend President Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to check US foreign policies and, especially, to take a very much closer look at PLAN COLOMBIA which involves the killing of many innocent people struggling to win their rights, as well as the pollution of lands and water sources with very dangerous substances through fumigations that kill coca plantations AND everything else. I encourage the both of them to understand the relationships of power behind the Colombian government ... for example, that Defense Minister Juan Manuel Santos belongs to a 'family' that owns one of the most important print media in Colombia which has been given weapons and war equipment by the United States under G.W. Bush to fight armed groups that camp out in mountains ever since the assassination of Eliezer Gaitan.
Just last year, the Colombian Army was sent to invade Ecuadorian territory without due authorization. They were following a group of Colombian guerrillas who were camped in Ecuador and killed guerrilla leader Raul Reyes (among others). Quite naturally, Ecuador withdrew its ambassador and broke all relationships with Colombia as a result of its invasion of sovereign territory.
The truth be known that very cruel right-wing organizations have sought and found refuge in Colombia. They have close connections with right-wing Venezuelans and have infiltrated Colombian paramilitaries into Venezuelan territory several times. The Venezuelan government has increased security along the extensive Colombian/Venezuelan border to avoid potential invasions of Venezuela's sovereign territory or airspace. Only lately and in general terms, Colombia's President Alvaro Uribe and Chavez have met to signed bilateral accords that aim at improving relations between the two nations.
Mr. Obama: would you meet Presidents Chavez and Uribe to discuss all this?
