My friend Marlene didn't give up until she had no choice in the matter, just as the late Molly Ivans didn't quit writing until just before she died. With the love and support of her family, Elizabeth Edwards will continue the pursuits she holds dear, which in turn might be of benefit to all of us.
If nothing else, we can be inspired by Elizabeth and Marlene's optimism and determination to be all they can be in the face of the worst adversity.
