Politicians are very often guilty of failing, once they've made their political journey to increased power and fame, to remember to return home, to bring home the magic elixir that was needed in their home, ordinary world, that set them off on their journey. They let their constituents down and become addicted to power and lobbyist money and gifts. These are not heroes. They are failures who, like Icarus, whose wings melted when he soared too close to the sun, never achieve heroic status. They become dark, weak, parasites who betray the people who helped them reach the placed of power they acheived on their path.
There are many such politicians in Washington DC. It is time to set higher standards and require that the politicians we elect meet those standards, that they stay on the heroic path and come home with the power and magic that their winning campaigns, powered and truly achieved by their constituents, brought them.
Soo.... who are the living people who are heroes in your life? And what makes them heroes? Who are the candidates who have the potential to be heroic? Who are the politicians who succombed to the lure of the heroic world while failing to make the return home?
