Will Hillary turn on hormones in Iowa?

All it took were some shots of hormones to make the perpetual milk yields and some veterinary drugs to control the recurring infections. Any mother who has ever nursed a baby can appreciate what that would do to the poor cows. Heck of a plan!! But there needed to be players working inside of the government to make this fly.

It would take skill and stealth planning to make sure the health effects, that caused the 101 Nations to imposed a ban on the rBGH, didn't stop it from getting into the American homes. There needed to be lobbyists to go sell the scheme to the Members of Congress and that's where Monsanto has always excelled.

From Washington lobbying powerhouse, King & Spaulding, who helped bring Rumsfeld's Asperatame out of Defense Chemical Weapons and into food came a young eager attorney Michael Taylor. An evil genius of loophole loophole lawyering skill that would eventually make him a key to what later became known as called "biotechnology policy' and it would see Taylor revolve in and out of posts at the FDA and USDA and as a VP for Monsanto Public Policy.

A laundry list of powerful insiders took other key posts and as you all should know, the hormone dairy has been going into our American diets now for over a decade. Lucky there's no indication that the dieabtes that was predicted is effecting us at all. No, we now have Pennsylvania poised to outlaw dairies from adding the words, "from cows not treated with rBGH" on the cartons as of January 1,2008 and Ohio ready to follow suit. It is a Clinton success story we will have a chance to add to her White House experience list. As she says, some talk of what they might do and Hillary has a record as a White House Team member of what she has done.

Tonight at the elegant Blue Vase, preceded by organic wine, hors d’oeuvres and piano music, Jerry Rosman, Executive Director of the Iowa Organic Association will address a gathering of the Iowa L.O.H.A.S. (Lifestyles of Health And Sustainability) community.

There will be talk of the importance of organic farming practices, sustainability and the environment. Most importantly for me there will be Presidential candidates and a focus on what is happening with the genetically altered foods.

“Since our food supply has been genetically altered and food safety is now on the lips of candidates such as Hilary Clinton and Senator Obama, Organic Independence Day has been declared,” Anne Dietrich, Executive Director of The Campaign to Label Genetically Engineered Foods announced this week in a press release.

“Americans want to know what they are eating. According to a report funded by the USDA and conducted by Rutgers University, 89% of the American public feels the Federal Government should require the labeling of genetically engineered foods. Over fifty percent of the food on our table has been genetically modified and it’s not written on the box.

Organic Independence Day is our call to arms in the heartland of America,” says Dr. Chris Wege, Director of the Wege Foundation. The Wege Foundation is spearheading a coalition of over 125 environmental groups sponsoring The Great Lakes Initiative, a bill which has been co-signed by 41 members of the House of Representatives and 7 Senators for a $22 billion clean up of the Great Lakes. Dr. Wege is the primary sponsor of the gala event.

Representatives of the Presidential campaigns will outline the candidates’ stand on food safety, consumers’ right to know, and mandatory labeling legislation at the event tonight. If there were any way to be there in person there's not a doubt it would be a dream come true for me. But regardless of the low key, press free hush surrounding this we know the gmo food is on the table.

What will be most interesting is to see what Hillary Clinton has to say about the Monsanto factor in the equation. Senator Clinton is selling her experience and achievements in the White House. Will Hillary remember to thank her Arkansas buddy Carol or is the New York Senator going to reinvent herself. If Clinton isn't taking credit for our biotech ingredients, and turns her back on the hormones, she's giving voters a lot more to chew on or maybe just a genetically modified version, of the truth.
