WHAT DO THE COMMANDERS REALLY HAVE TO SAY?

Guess what. On March 11, Sec. of Defense Robert Gates announced that Admiral William Fallon would be retiring at the end of March. Bush favorite, General David Petraeus, is expected to take Fallon’s place, and another “ass-kissing little chickenshit” will be found to take Petraeus’ place.

You probably didn’t hear about Admiral Fallon’s resignation because the media was too busy covering the Eliot Spitzer sex scandal to bother mentioning the sudden resignation of one of our nation’s top military leaders--the one that opposed a war with Iran.

General Petraeus and Ambassador to Iraq Ryan Crocker are scheduled to appear before Congress early in April. We already know what they are going to say--things are going great in Iraq and Bush has been right about everything; but some members of Congress believe that Adm. Fallon should also appear. The Bush Administration has refused.

 ·        “I know there have been requests, in fact, from members of Congress to have Adm. Fallon testify with Gen. Petraeus and Ambassador Crocker, and I can tell you that Adm. Fallon will not be testifying--Pentagon press secretary Geoff Morrell AP, 3/22/08

This is ridiculous. The American people need to know why Admiral Fallon suddenly resigned his post in a time of war. Has President Cheney already given the order to attack Iran? Did Admiral Fallon resign, rather than obey an order to attack Iran? Why doesn’t the Bush Administration want us to hear what Admiral Fallon has to say?

Please call your Senators and Representatives (202-224-3121) and demand that Admiral Fallon be allowed to testify before Congress. We need to know what is going on--before the Bush Administration starts another stupid, costly, unnecessary war.

 ·        “Congress needs to determine immediately whether Admiral Fallon’s resignation is another example of truth tellers being forced to the sidelines in the Bush administration. His departure must not clear the way for a rush to war with Iran.”--Senator John Kerry(D-MA), 3/11/08
