House Appropriations Committee Passes Iraq War Supplemental

In the end the supplemental passed 37-27 along party lines except for Rep. Barbara Lee voting against the supplemental.  Before the vote Lee explained that in deference to Rep. Obey she would not submit her amendment which required a troop withdrawal by December 31, 2007. She said she could not vote for the supplemental because it did not go far enough. “I believe the American people sent a mandate to us to bring home our men and women before the end of the year,” she said.
