We're broke and our country is more distinctly polarized now than at any time since the Civil War, including the period of social upheaval experienced during the sixties. Overall quality of life is declining along with working class incomes while infant mortality rates are rising for the first time since 1958. Comprehension of the written word is down markedly and millions of Americans, including this writer, have no access to viable, continuing healthcare because of its cost. We borrow about two billion dollars every single day in order to maintain the status quo, yet critical infrastructure, such as New Orleans levees and Michigan bridges disintegrates.
Pity is, I could go on citing statistics and instances like these till the cows come home. So, just where is national security found in that?
