Democracy is great. The finest form of government ever known to man.
One of my heroes, Winston Churchill said, "Many forms of Government have been tried, and will be tried in this world of sin and woe. No one pretends that democracy is perfect or all-wise. Indeed, it has been said that democracy is the worst form of government except all those other forms that have been tried from time to time."
In our democracy, we are allowed, in fact encouraged, to disagree in public. Even in wartime.
But now we have to move on.
If I'm a White House strategist tonight, I'm thinking of ways to get out of this and mend fences.
Then let's get back to the war.
We need to be united on the home front to be successful in war. I've said that several times and in different ways in The Washington Times.
The sooner we put this episode behind us the better.
