But it also reflected some caution by an administration that has also accused the Quds force of aiding Shiite militia attacks on American soldiers in Iraq, and has even detained some Quds force members there, but has resisted calls for retaliatory strikes inside Iran. MORE
The NY Times commentary suggests we may be taking a more cautious approach to the stand-off between Iran, Israel, certain EU Nations as well as the US, but when you dig further into the news, it’s hard to take the above statements seriously when there is still ample evidence the Pentagon and White house are still actively rushing to escalate the crisis in Iran:
Request to fit B-2 bombers with bunker busting bombs raises questions on IranJohn Byrne - Raw Story
Published: Thursday October 25, 2007It’s just what the White House would need to bomb Iran — money to modify stealth B-2 bombers to carry a bunker-busting bomb.

It is important to note the request to refit the B-2 Bombers was made prior to the revelation that Russia may be taking sides with Iran, however Darth Cheney, in his march toward war with Iran may not believe that Russia would actually risk retaliation against the United States, or, Bush and Cheney may still believe that “World War III is worth starting.” The good news I see in the rush to refit our B-2’s is that it may signal that the military has demonstrated they will not use nuclear weapons against Iran, and while it doesn’t diffuse the crisis, it may be evidence that the nuclear option is off the table. The clock is ticking, and if what the Asia times is reporting is actually true - it’s imperative that Congress do something to reign-in our self-destructive leadership in Washington.
