The Litvenenko killing is seen as a throwback to pro-Communist tactics and a retreat from democratic reform in Russia.
US Immigration Policy Stymies Legitimate Aliens to the USA seeking Political Asylum
The inability of the US government to enforce current immigration laws established under the 1986 Simpson-Mazzoli Act threatens lawful immigrants seeking political asylum in the United States from countries like Liberia, Africa.
Everyday in the United States, the federal government, in spite of current laws, allows scores of illegal immigrants to pierce the southwestern borders of the United States while legitimate political refugees seeking asylum in America, many under threat of death in their homelands, are denied entrance or are mired in mountains of red tape and administrative bungling.
Few supporters of recently defeated immigration reform efforts address these arguments concerning the unfair advantage given to illegal immigrants at the expense of legitimate political asylees who are being failed by the system. If US immigration policy is to reflect the doctrine of fairness, follow the imperatives of social justice, and respect the rule of law, then current supporters of so-called immigration reform must stop promoting corporate and special interests and start protecting the claims of legitimate political refugees.
