ICE and CBP have purchased commercial databases with cellphone location tracking capabilities to detect undocumented workers and others illegally entering the country.
The Wall Street Journal reported last week that user location data purchases from Virginia-based tech company Venntel Inc. began in 2017--the first year of Donald Trump's presidency.
ICE bought $190,000 worth of Venntel licenses the following year.
