Mr. Carter makes at least two other correct statements: First, "It is critical that elections are fair." Right on!
Moreover, "With the developments of the Internet and electronic
security [hunh?], it seems to me that there is room for a lot of
innovation in voting."
Indeed. The past eleven years have certainly borne that out. But instead of working to create a seamless electronic system that elects no one other than Republicans, or else Independents of his flavor, the Republicans seem (I say "seem") to be concentrating their brilliant strategizing (I say, "brilliant") on legislating voter i.d. requirements in as many states as possible and reducing the amount of early voting time as much as possible. Needless to say, white collars benefit the most from these two trends.
I need add only one more, objective point: Mr. Carter is writing, at least in part, on the basis of his experiences with the Chicago electoral system. He took an Election Judge Training course there.
