"Certainly, the torment of those who wage war against Allah SWT (initials for Arabic words meaning "Glory to Him, the Exalted") and the Holy Prophet PBUH and make upsurge on the earth, is to kill them or to hang them or to cut their hands and legs off or to expel them from the earth." 5:33
Ahadith
Kab bin Ayadah narrates, "Every Ummah (community) has a test to undergo; my Ummah will be tried through wealth." (Jami-e-Tirmazi, Volume 4, Hadith no. 2343.)
Hazrat Abu Huairah RA narrates, "Everything belonging to a Muslim is unlawful for a Muslim, his blood, his honor and his property." (Sunune ibn e majjah, Volume 2, Hadith no. 3933.)
Anas Bin Malik reports, "Facilitate things to people; do not make it hard for them: give them good tidings and do not make them run away." (Sahih Al-Bukhari, Vol. 1, Hadith no. 69.)
Abu Musa reports, "Visit the sick, feed the hungry and free the captive." (Sahih Al-Bukhari, Volume 7, Hadith no. 552.)
Hazrat Asma declares, "Do not withhold your wealth; God will withhold his blessings from you." (Sahih al-bukhari, Volume 2, Hadith no. 513.)
Hazrat Anas RA reports, "None of you will have faith till he wishes for his brother what he likes for himself." (Sahih Al-Bukhari, Volume 1, Hadith no. 12.)
Hazrat Aisha RA narrates, "The Holy Prophet PBUH said, the early people were destroyed due to their apathy in implementing justice. When an influential person committed a sin of theft, he was granted immunity, whereas punishment was inflicted whenever a poor person committed theft. His Excellency avowed the same torment would have been strictly implemented if the theft had been committed by Fatimah, the daughter of Muhammad." (Sahih Bukhari, Volume 8, Book 81, Hadith no. 779.)
The Holy Prophet PBUH said, "O my adherents, I have forbidden injustice for myself and forbade it also for you. So avoid being unjust to one another." (Saheeh Al-Muslim)
From these quotations, we can see that the teachings of the Holy Prophet PBUH emphasize maintaining a balance and equilibrium among the different segments of society. [Again, see "What Is Social Justice?" Occasional Paper No. 1, National Bro Band Resource Centre, October 2011, p.5.]
In summary, three major codes of conduct can be inferred from the Al-Quran and Al-Ahadith teachings as guidelines for maintaining and building such a society:
First, people who come from different backgrounds, but are nevertheless integral parts of the same society, must bestow honor and respect on one another. They are forbidden to usurp others' rights and are urged to be sympathetic to one another, avoiding all acts of exploitation or oppression. They are even forbidden to make any false shows of affluence or wealth.
Secondly, rulers are required to be restrained in their attitudes and actions toward those they rule. In their use of power, they are forbidden to act either venally in their own behalf or tyrannically toward the people. They are invested with responsibility for the safety and security of the masses.
And thirdly, misconduct (Fassaad) by both rulers and the common people is to be suppressed by ruthless and tormenting punishments, including execution, cutting off of hands and legs, and even banishment from the earth. The same punishments are also prescribed for those, whether rulers or ruled, who fail to meet their responsibilities and duties.
