The president can halt the runaway pace of immigrant deportations and set the tone for real comprehensive immigration reform that does not include some Mexican fence that has absolutely nothing to do with immigration. He can re-engage young people and reconnect with them by giving them the kind of hope in the future that he articulated so very well in 2008. And finally, President Obama must use the office of the President of the United States as a bully pulpit to expose the angry xenophobia and racism that is confusing the political discourse in American politics. If he can accomplish just half of these things then 2010 will be the year that Democrats take back the House and he gets re-elected.
