"We live in a culture of lies," Steele says. He identifies thirteen of these representing widely held and durable beliefs. Lie 1 is: "The Earth is an open system with infinite supplies and sinks." He asserts that lies such as this have been "created over the centuries to benefit the few at the expense of the inattentive, distracted, and complacent many." After enumerating twelve others, Steele promises, "The manifesto is our non-violent articulation of how we can stop being exploited and disadvantaged, and restore the sovereignty of We the People."

"There is nothing wrong with the United States -- or the world at large -- that cannot be stabilized and reconstructed by restoring the intelligence and integrity of all our organizations-- Steele concludes. And in his final sentence he says, "Connected we are One."

Open Source Everything Manifesto is itself an optimistic broadband review of philosophical and pragmatic contemporary wisdom. In that sense my attempt at a review seems inadequate. The comprehensiveness and scope of the manifesto is remarkable. It is a survey course defining the problems we face, replete with opportunities for further study.

Personally, I have the sense that the sun is setting on 19th and 20th century individualism. Steele gives insights on how the 21st century may herald the unification of humanity for the benefit of all.
