Rabindranath Tagore (7 May 1861 - 7 August 1941) was a Bengali poet, writer, playwright, composer, philosopher, social reformer and painter. In 1913 Tagore won the Nobel Prize in Literature for a small body of his translated material focused on the 1912 Gitanjali: Song Offerings, he was the first non-European and the first lyricist to win the Nobel Prize in Literature.
