Now, if Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont were to emerge as the Democratic presidential candidate in 2016, in a match-up against Trump, then Trump's rage-aholic supporters could use the Chicago Tribune's picture of young Bernie Sanders being arrested when he was a student at the University of Chicago in 1963 to make him a symbol of the 1960s and fire up anti-60s outrage.
Of course if Trump were to emerge victorious in the 2016 presidential election, his election as president of the United States would be an enormous victory for the anti-60s rage-aholics.
But wouldn't it be wonderful if Trump became the Republican presidential candidate -- and lost all 50 states?
In any event, thus far, the 2016 presidential election is shaping up as a referendum on the 1960s and 1970s. But will the anti-60s rage-aholics prevail in the 2016 presidential election?
For a scholarly study of anti-60s reactionaries, see Philip Jenkins' book DECADE OF NIGHTMARES: THE END OF THE SIXTIES AND THE MAKING OF EIGHTIES AMERICA (Oxford University Press, 2006).
