As millions have lost their jobs during these past eight years under a Republican administration and for the most part a Republican congress, many opportunities have been lost.  So, it makes no sense at all when he said, "You see, liberals would replace opportunity with dependency on government largesse."

Let me remind Romney that there are citizens in this country that cannot pull themselves up by their boot straps and don’t they deserve a government they can look upon to help them?  Government after all is supposedly made up of public servants and we must remind these servants, they work for us.

The Republicans also pulled out of their hat, former Mayor Rudy Giuliani.  The man who said when the towers were hit, “Thank God, Bush is our president” Instead of praying for those whose lives were lost in an instant.  Using a tragic moment to put forth a political message must be rejected by all Americans.

In listening to the tone of his speech, it was not inviting me to join ranks with them and to vote for their candidates; the tone was thuggish for lack of a better word.

I did notice that he did mention Osama bin Laden in his speech and I would like to ask, Giuliani, how come this Republican administration cannot find this terrorist?

I kept hearing the term outsider as it pertains to Governor Palin and why we as citizens need an outsider to shake up Washington.  Let us remember, it was an outsider namely George W. Bush who came to Washington, shook things up and to the very detriment of this country.

By the time it came to Governor Palin’s speech, while still slightly open to hear what she had to say her opening acts lost any support coming from a liberal like me.

When Palin spoke of McCain’s leadership; exactly where was it during these past eight years as he has sided again and again with President Bush? While he is not a candidate, but an esteemed Senator from Wisconsin, it was Senator Russell Feingold a Democrat who was the lone dissenter who voted no to both Patriot Acts.

When Palin referenced Senator Obama by saying, “I guess a small-town mayor is sort of like a “community organizer,” except that you have actual responsibilities.” Anyone who organizes activities within their communities does have responsibilities to those they are helping.

There are many wonderful organizations across America who serve the most needy amongst us and they do have a responsibility to see that they are fed, clothed, to obtain emergency housing should they need it and jobs for those who need them. Especially the jobs that have been lost to them during these past eight years.  Would she say to those that head the Red Cross and the Salvation Army do not have responsibilities when disasters strike?

Senator Barack Obama’s service to country as a community organizer helping our fellow Americans is just as important as Senator McCain’s who chose to put on the uniform and defend it.

When she referenced Venezuela by saying, "or that Venezuela might shut off its oil deliveries" Let me remind Gov. Palin that Venezuela provides lost oil at forty percent below market price to those most needy in this country and I have witnessed it first hand.  I did cover a delivery they made back in December of 2005 when CITGO delivered low cost heating oil to the Bronx. Meanwhile companies like Exxon raked in billions of dollars.  I would also like to remind Palin that it was Venezuela that tried to aid us during Hurricane Katrina and it was this government that refused that aid package.

The rest of her speech which as I said was well written and mainly written to feed the base of that party was clearly partisan.  I would not have expected an inclusion speech since I have not seen the Republican Party as being that for a long time now.

In last night’s convention coverage, what I saw is what I have witnessed during these past eight years and that is the use of fear, dividing Americans and not reaching across party lines or those who do not belong to any party.  I have been a Republican and this is not the Republican Party I once knew.  It is a party of drumbeats and not the party of Lincoln.

As a suburban mom of two wonderful teenage children, their message was lost to me.  While she calls herself a hockey mom, I have been a track mom.  As a mom, I only want what is best for both of my teenage children and I do not see it coming from John McCain and Sarah Palin.

The media who by the way they attacked again and again has now labeled Palin a star.  At this time she maybe seen by some undecided voters as a star, but astronomy will show us that stars do fade when reality sets in. America’s reputation abroad has suffered during these past eight years and as a woman, it is Joe Biden I trust.
