It was a very bad idea.
I say we go back to the machine that goes "ding, ding, ding," when something important happens. Then put someone on the air who is not so ugly they're a distraction, and have them simply read the raw copy as AP or Reuters serves it up.
Oh, and please, let's establish the following rule: the ONLY time they can use those BREAKING NEWS graphics is when and if the machine that goes "ding," goes "ding," at least four times. Not one ding less. If they use the that graphic for and story that rates three dings or less, we take it away from them for 30-days the first time, and forever the second time.
