Meanwhile, the working people (labor) just voted to get themselves and our planet royally screwed by their current Lord and Savior, Donald Trump. Let me emphasize, the Lord (Lady) and Savior (or Savioress) is ourselves in our communities and homes. We are the ones we seek. No external God, Politicians, or Magician. We are it! What we have as our God is our inner world, where the spirit of love dwells.
But my words are not all about doom and gloom.
Today, let's be positive as we consider the South of 6th neighborhood in Colorado, which is working towards creating better connections with its children and teens through its Youth Connections Initiative. To make connections with other South of 6th residents: the neighborhood created the "Ask an Arborist" to learn about local trees. It also organized a protein food drive in the neighborhood to donate to the Action Center.
This is empowerment. Consider the following paragraph regarding
the consequences for some work done by members in Lakewood, CO:
The
neighborhoods earn credits based on the initiatives to become either a
Participating Sustainable Neighborhood or an Outstanding Sustainable
Neighborhood, and that certification is recognized with a sign that is erected
in the neighborhood. The neighborhoods also must recertify each year based on
their yearly credits.
Since the launch of the Sustainable Neighborhood Program in 2012, five
neighborhoods have participated in the Lakewood program, which has expanded to
Denver where 10 neighborhoods currently participate.
Change is happening, and Donald Trump (The ace of the trump suit containing all who are like him) will become revealed as what he truly is, a farce and drama king. Of course we could keep on going according to the status quo, which says, "I don't care, I just want my Mac and Cheese." Such is consumerism. So maintain what your doing so Donald can get a piece of your".
Donald does not hold the trump card; you do! Only you and those like you, willing to do the work of loving and building compassionate community, can you become free from the McDonald world we have allowed powerful "others" to create. Together we can nourish ourselves, and our children far better. The golden arches aren't real gold; your heart and neighbors are.
