So when we work together and help each other we can get more things done. Politics is a team sport and we have to remember that. Tomorrow, in Illinois Luis Gutierrez, the champion of undocumented who sacrificed his political career by removing himself as the number three democrat on the Financial Services Committee, the money committee, and instead moving over to the Judiciary Committee so he could lead the effort toward immigration reform. He is on the ballot, he's got a primary opponent.
His primary opponent is going to be nowhere near as progressive as he is and also in Illinois tomorrow we have a race with one candidate, George Gollin who actually puts it in his ads that he is a progressive, something you hardly ever see these days. He puts it in his TV ads that he's a progressive and he is obviously somebody of great accomplishments, a man with a conscience, he's a PhD physicist and has spent years of his life trying to prevent other people from pretending to be PhDs.-- people who get their essentially get their degrees out of a gum machine and I'm exaggerating and then go on to become professors and researchers fake people of accomplishment all around the country and he has been fighting that and now he wants to run for Congress and be the essentially the only person in Congress who is qualified to do oversight in the eight billion dollars a year that we spent on our so-called green energy research.
There are exciting candidates all the time, all around the country. We're trying to identify them for people. People sign up for emails at congressmanwithguts.com and they realize that there are things to do. You can make phone calls for candidates, you can sign petitions, you can contribute to candidates,. We have put out an email for Luis Gutierrez just yesterday and since yesterday we've raised almost twenty thousand dollars for his campaign just because people got the point. They realize that if you've got a champion of people in the shadows in Congress, you can't afford to lose him to some generic democrat in name only backed by the local Chamber of Commerce.
R.K.: Okay. You have been great, thank you so much and keep up the great work. I can't wait to have you back on the show again.
A.G.: Thank you, I hope more people will sign up to our website, congressmanwithguts.com and we are building a movement. Thanks for having me on the show.
R.K.: You know what? People are going to know about it. This is the Rob Kall Bottom Up Radio Show, I've been talking with Alan Grayson, he's a congressman, a progressive, a rare breed. Very courageous person. Thank you.
A.G.: Thank you too. Have a good day.
