The Tea Party wants the government to have less power. The Republican politicians want the government to pay fewer bureaucrats and cut red tape for rich multinational corporations. They pretend to be talking about the same thing -- but the Tea Party wants these same politicians to have less power. The only power the Tea Party wants the government to have is the power to execute women and doctors that have or preform abortions and the power to restrict government power or government involvement in our lives (provided we are all good "Christian" moralists). The Republican politicians want the power to take power from We the People and give that power to our new corporation citizens. (How much longer will it be before corporations get the right to vote?) At some point the Tea Party will turn their wrath on the political right-wing, as they are now the left, and truly divide the Republican party.

The Democrats learned a long time ago that they can't serve two masters, yet they found a way to stay one disorganized, slightly effective party. This likely has more to do with the fact that liberals and progressives can still work against a common enemy and they seem to take pride in being the bigger person, if you will. The Tea Party on the other hand was born in fire and anger. It exists as a voice for rabble and has more contradictions than solutions. If your are not with them, you are against them --and in their minds against America. If the Republicans are not more careful, the Tea Party will turn its wrath on them without blinking and then all conservatives will lose. A divided Republican party cannot get enough votes to win elections. Teddy Roosevelt proved that.

It is not too late. The Republicans can still spin this into a win for them and the Tea Party. All they need is Fox News on their side and they'll be able to make it look like a compromise was their idea and their success. The can boldly declare no new taxes and the evil corporations that are trying to be citizens will pay their fair share of the debt Obama "gave" us. (Yes, that is a lie too, but baby steps). Sure the left will declare victory, and the right will say they are being arrogant and life will go on. However, if the Republicans do not work out a deal to fix this mess or if the Democrats give in to the right yet again we will keep failing to fix our problems and play games the whole country will continue to lose. The question now become, will Fox News use its power over the political right for the good of the nation, or keep helping the corporate "citizens?"
