Charlie Crist in my opinion has derailed and utterly destroyed his chances for a political future any time soon. Instead of going independent maybe Charlie Crist should have gone all the way over to democrat since he is now attacking those who elected him in the first place.
And for Kendrick Meek to have thrown Charlie Crist under the bus in a possible effort to win Crist voters at the last second is costing him dearly. Floridians are now thinking that maybe it is possible that Bill Clinton did ask him to drop out of the race after all- because it makes sense, but it also makes sense that Crist would possibly ask the same thing of him. Regardless of who actually did or did not ask Meek to drop out, Meek has lost the trust and faith of many Florida voters. He is viewed as self-serving and now quite possibly devious as well.
The infighting between Crist and Meek has destroyed any hope of democrats winning the Florida Senate seat.
If this issue is pursued all the way to the voting polls, you can safely expect Marco Rubio to be Florida's newest Senator- a Republican.
The message to Meek is you have been set up to fail! And your public response to the setup has cost you more votes by throwing Crist under the bus to protect your friend Bill Clinton. Meek, you threw yourself under the bus this time and you have tarnished your reputation and future political career if you have one.
And for Charlie Crist, basically you are an idiot all though a likeable idiot. Changing parties from Republican to independent and then turning on your base of voting supporters in attacking them by calling them extremists makes you sound like a liberal democrat, and at this point, Meek may have thrown you under the bus, but it looks like you crawled under there yourself, and Florida's conservatives now know you can not be trusted, but maybe the democrats will love you. Bye bye Charlie Crist!
