Alas, tears flow from her two eyes as Meghna, Jamuna.

The same sky, the same air

Within one heart the same breath to share

The doyel here, the koyel there, in their birdsongs the same lilt

Yet, tears flow from her two eyes as Meghna, Jamuna.

I know not whither I dwell, this shore or the other

Verily I am everywhere

Setting my dinghy afloat on the Ganga
