How Do You Have the Audacity to Make Such Blatantly False Statements About Health and Brown Water to the People of Aiken?Comments?
Why don't you stop the water main breaks and brown water in Aiken? You were provided opportunities to stop water main breaks and resultant brown water corrosion since 2018, and you repeatedly fail to act.
Aiken Brown Water, The Saga Goes On
Our Aiken City Manager seems to fall in line with Mark Twain's quote, You can tell when politicians are lying because their lips are moving. He keeps breaking our water mains and causing brown water, even though I presented him with numerous peer-reviewed engineering publications and many letters to him, the Mayor and the City Council. I offered free engineering services, and services were turned down. He responded by publicly slandering my character with false statements.
Science is here to stop water main breaks and brown water, and he throws technology away. He is hurting the people of Aiken. Proven facts are simple. Water hammers break water mains and cause brown water. Aiken water hammers our drinking water system again, and again, and again
Our Aiken City Manager made the following false statements ('in quotes') to the August 25, 2025, City Council meeting [Aiken City Council meeting, minute 24:30, click here].
1) False statement: [The Aiken City Manager falsely stated that] 'Occasionally, velocity in our lines can stir up naturally occurring mineral sediments, primarily iron and manganese, and that reside in our cast iron lines'.
a. Fact: Manganese and iron from cast iron pipes are rust from those cast iron pipes.
b. Fact: Rust is created by water hammers.
c. Fact: Rust is preventable.
[d. Aiken brown water complaints are received every month of the year, which means 'occasional' to the Aiken City Manager.]
2) False statement: [The Aiken City Manager falsely stated that] 'methods to mitigate the discoloration' 'included adjusting our water tank set points and shifting water tank refill time, strategic hydrant flushing, and ongoing system monitoring'.
d. Fact: Hydrant flushing removes water hammer-created rust as our water system continues to deteriorate.
3) Fact: [The Aiken City Manager falsely stated that] 'Our utility does meet all state and federal water quality standards'.
[e. Fact: I agree that standards are being met, but I do not agree that water is safe during brown water events and other water hammer destruction.]
