Cordoba House is named for a mosque in Cordova, Spain, and the "golden age" between 800 and 1200 when Jews, Christians and Muslims inhabited that city in peace and harmony. The board is multifaith, as are their fund-raising efforts, ideally. But this is something the media don't emphasize, the imam said, intoxicated as it is by "yellow" controversy, the soul of popular journalism [my paraphrasing--ed.).
Waging peace is as much a struggle as waging war, continued Imam Feisal. The real controversy is not between specific religions but between moderates of all faiths and radicals.
The revolution in Egypt was driven by moderates, he said; let this same spirit bring peace in Israel, a sea change that would celebrate diversity rather than problematize it.
